Glitter Nail Polish Remover?

I was SO excited when I found this little puppy at Walmart!  I love glitter nail polish but rarely do I ever use it as it's such a pain in the neck to remove it. Can I get an Amen?

 

 

 You get 4 fl oz or 118 ml for just $3.00. The packaging is a pretty heavy plastic that you squeeze to get the product out. When I first opened it a bit shot out at me! The consistency is similar to a thick hand sanitizer.  This product claims to remove glitter nail polish in two minutes with just one swipe of a cotton ball. Let's put it to the test...

 

So here's the glitter nails I was attempting to remove:

 

This manicure includes Essie's Penny Talk and Summit of Style. It was gorgeous while it lasted but I'm not all about rockin' a chipped mani so it's time to go!

 

The directions say to apply a generous amount, so I squeezed some out then spread it all over the nail.

 

 

I waited two minutes then swiped with the cotton ball and here's the results:

FAIL!

I was literally heartbroken! I wanted this to work so badly! You can see it took off a bit, but the claim was to remove the glitter polish completely in one swipe. I even tried rubbing my nail with the cotton ball that was covered in the gel. *Sigh* Maybe I did something wrong. Maybe I wasn't liberal enough! Let's try it again!

 

 

I laid it on super thick, set my timer for 2 minutes and anxiously waited for the magic to happen.

EPIC FAIL!

As you can see even putting on a copious amount of product didn't do the trick. =(

Wah, wah, waaaaaaaaah.

 

 

So now the only thing left to do was to bust out regular old nail polish remover and OF COURSE I only had acetone free. This is going to take a while....

 

 

 

So after almost an entire bottle (I hadn't used any of this bottle yet) and an entire bag of (admittedly cheap) of cotton balls AND about 20 minutes............

 

 

Finally, cleaned off nails. Phew!

 

Needless to say, I cannot recommend that you try this product. Save yours $3 bucks and put it towards good old fashioned acetone to remove your stubborn glitter. I am, however, tempted to try this again (though only on an accent nail) to see if I use a finer glitter polish if this will work. Essie's Summit of Style is a very chunky glitter and I had on two generous coats. KISS DRESS NAILS

I got these super cute Kiss Nail Dress's in my Love Voxbox from Influenster! I couldn't wait to try them!!! I've used similar products before and have enjoyed the results. Those products cost a lot more than these from Kiss, so I wanted to see if they were of just as good quality!

I love that the directions are pictured on the back of the packaging! I've used this type of product before, but these directions look super easy to follow.  If I were a person who had never used something like this before, I feel confident I'd be able too.

There's even one of those bars to scan with your smart phone if you want to see more product information! I don't have that app, but I think it's a cool idea!

Here's everything in the box! You get three slips of stickers, a nail file, and a brochure picturing all 18 different designs---all look amazing by the way!

First decide which nails you want to add the stickers too---you can do all, but I prefer a more subtle look of just doing a few accent nails. Just peel off the sticker you think is the right size.

Smooth the sticker on your clean nail and fold the tip over your finger like this! Then you will take the file, I used the black side, to file off the excess. That's it!

I paired mine with this gorgeous Capri Coral from Bourghese! In love! I don't find these last 10 days on my nails, but I'm super hard on my hands! I can definitely see these lasting forever on my toes though!

RAISIN THE BAR

This is Raisin the Bar from Sally Hansen. I picked this up the yesterday at the grocery store! It's similar to my Essie Buy Me A Cameo, but much pinker. I LOVE it! I'm just a fan of shades like this. I think they are flattering on my paler skin and would still look amazing if I was able to get a tan!! I was surprised at the application brush, check this out:

Wild huh? I don't know about you, but this is the first time I've ever seen something flat like this. I thought I was going to hate it. But it turns out that I LOVE it! It made applying the polish so much easier! I could apply a little pressure and basically coat my entire nail! It worked great on my little pinky nails too! So in love with this!

I also love the bottle:

I think the formula is pretty great too. You get a nice even application with just one coat, but I chose to do two coats, plus a top coat. It dries pretty quickly and I love the metallic finish! I will certainly not quib about spending another $7 for another one of these!!

BUY ME A CAMEO

This is my first Essie polish and it was LOVE at first sight! It's called "Buy me a cameo". Two smooth coats, just a few minutes, and I am ready to go! I love the consistency of this polish. I do wish the bottle was bigger, especially since it's $8! I'm not huge into nail polishes, but I'm loving this! I put it on three days ago (I think) and it still looks like I just put it on! What's your favorite Essie polish?

NAILENE, TAKE TWO!

I've tried Nailene nails once before...didn't like them. But I couldn't resist trying these sexy little nails for Halloween tomorrow. I thought, maybe these will be better......

WRONG!

These are the worst nails I have ever tried. I didn't expect them to look natural, but these looked beyond terrible!! I don't usually have hard to fit nails, but most of these are too small or too large. I only did one hand before ripping them off. Ugh! I am done with you Nailene. I won't ever cheat on my beloved Kiss nails again!! Shame on me!

NAILENE SO NATURAL NAILS

I purchased Nailene So Natural nails yesterday and was really excited about trying them. I always buy the shortest length I can find, as I feel they are more comfortable and look natural. I've mostly bought Kiss  nails, so I wanted to see how these compare.

SO many of these nails were huge for my fingernails--I don't have petite nails. There was seriously like, 4 sizes for thumbs and only one was just right, the other 3 must have been for Andre the Giant!! Besides most of the nails being too big, I didn't really think they looked "natural". I suppose if I had looked at the nails closer, I would have noticed in the box they don't really look that natural. The white tip is a bit too thick for the short length in my opinion. Oh!! Also, you know how the nails that have the little twist off tip on them, for you to hold onto while applying the glue and pressing on your nail? These don't have those, but you can feel where one was (I guess during manufacturing) and they are rough at the tips. Gross! I really hate that.

Even though I just put these on last night, they are already off. =( The thumb on my left hand just lifted off...I have no idea why it wasn't staying on. Also, the sides of some of them felt rough--if that makes sense. I used the best sizes I could find for my nails, but they just didn't fit well. Bummer...I was really hoping to like these are they seem so highly recommended. I much prefer my Kiss nails better. If you missed my review of Kiss nails, check it out here!

2 SET'S OF FALSIES AND A WEDDING

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I went to a wedding this weekend with my family and had a really good time! I tried some new products and wanted to share my thought with you guys. First, I bought another set of false nails by Kiss. I reviewed Kiss Custom Fit Nails before, but I wanted something a bit more dramatic for this weekend. So I went with the Kiss EverLasting French Nails. I got them again in the "real short" lengh because I can't stand very long nails. The white tips on these are much thicker than the other nails I used before. What I love most about Kiss nails is that they do not make my fingertips feel sore, like many other falsies do! They always fit perfect and I have small  nails!! They do have many larger nails in the kit too, so I think everyone can find a good fit. You can see the nails on me in the pictuer with my hubby!!

I also tried for the first time Revlon's Fantasy lengths false eyelashes. They are the self-adhesive kind, so I thought it would be easier to apply. Yeah, not for me! I had to go with my ELF natural lashes because I was running out of time! I didn't even get to take a picture of my makeup for you guys! I suppose I just need to play with the Revlon ones a little more. I'll get another set and let you know when I get the hang of it!

KISS CUSTOM FIT REAL SHORT NAILS

 Don't want to pay a lot for great looking nails for the holidays?

I recently picked these up at my local Target store.**I think they were about $6.*** I've tried glue on nails before and while I've always liked the way they look, they always seem to fall off very easily-even when I pile on the glue-and I'm left disappointed. I wanted to go ahead and put these on before Christmas so my nails get used to the feeling of having something on them. You know that sore feeling your fingers get when you put on false nails--glue on or salon nails? I hate that feeling, so I wanted to get that part over with.

So I put these on two days ago and so far I am loving some things and not liking others. I'll start with my likes! I love the length!! I got REAL SHORT. They look super natural. Not that my husband is big on noticing "the little things", but he was surprised that these were false nails. =) Because they are so short, they don't get in the way of anything I need to do.

These also came in lots of different sizes too, which was great! I have smaller nails so there were a lot of options. This kit also had many larger sized nails too, if that is something that you are looking for! I don't know if I should attribute the NO PAIN to the length or the custom fit, but I am loving his aspect!! I feel that they are there, but there really is no pain at all. No sore fingertips or anything. This in itself is enough for me to want to purchase these again!

Now for the things I'm not liking. I have had about 3 nails pop off so far in the first two days. Now, maybe my demanding job as a stay at home mom has something to do with it! I wasn't even aware of two of them coming off, so I can't tell you why that happened. But one did come off when I was digging around in the couch for the remote control. I wouldn't say I'm really "rough" on my nails, so I'm not sure if it's the nails or me. I will certainly be purchasing these again in the future!
